Truly great employees are hard to find and retain. That’s why businesses are leveraging some of the same techniques they use on customers on workers. That includes personalization, predictive analytics, and self service.

Frost & Sullivan (News - Alert) talks about this kind of thing in a new white paper. Titled “Personalized Workforce Optimization,” the paper explains how to better assess and improve employee performance.

PWFO, the research firm says, allows for more effective employee goal management. It can improve coaching, onboarding, and training. It can lead to stronger employee engagement. It can allow for more effective and employee-driven scheduling. And it can lower costs, among other benefits.

"Companies are facing the challenges of attracting and retaining engaged customers and employees, in addition to driving strong results from them in a highly competitive marketplace," explains Frost & Sullivan Digital Transformation Principal Analyst, Nancy Jamison. "The answer lies in personalization. A successful customer marketing and engagement strategy, personalization is also an effective employee PM and HR strategy. PWFO applications tap personalization to help companies and HR departments reach C-Suite goals, along with shareholder value enhancement."

Jamison adds: "Companies can use PWFO to achieve successful end-to-end recruitment, onboarding, performance and talent management, as well as enhanced employee engagement, resulting in stronger outcomes. PWFO also ensures optimal matching of workers with work. With PWFO, companies can meet C-suite goals with engaged employees."

The area of human capital management, as human resources is sometimes now called, is undergoing a transformation, as I discussed in an early 2016 issue of CUSTOMER magazine. In the past HCM tools were designed exclusively for use by HR professionals. But now employees are increasingly provided with the tools to access information to learn new things and solve problems, manage their benefits, schedule their work shifts, and more.
